Associate Director and Senior Counsel, Benefits, Compensation, Labor and Employment The candidate will be advising on all compliance initiatives regarding the company's numerous retirement plans and broad-based welfare benefit plans; interpreting plan and trust provisions; working closely with management on plan design; advising the plan fiduciaries; negotiating and drafting third-party provider contracts; reviewing employee benefits and other communications; drafting employee benefits provisions in acquisition and divestiture agreements; managing outside counsel on various assigned matters; managing benefits-related disputes and litigation; and providing advice and counsel on various compensation matters, including Internal Revenue Code Section 409A. Working closely with the Senior Counsel, Labor & Employment, in supporting Human Resources and Labor Relations with advice and counsel on employment-related matters, and litigation management. Other tasks/matters as assigned. The candidate should have Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited U.S. law school or its foreign equivalent. Admitted to practice law in the State of New Jersey, or eligible to apply for and secure a New Jersey in-house license. Must have 5-7 years of law firm or in-house experience; some in-house experience preferred. 5-7years experience in advising on, compliance requirements for both qualified and non-qualified retirement plans and welfare benefit plans under applicable laws and regulations is essential, including significant ERISA, HIPAA and Internal Revenue Code expertise. 5-7 years' experience with public company work is essential. 3-5 years experience in advising on HR and employment related issues; traditional labor experience is a plus. Must have excellent Communication (Written & Oral).
