Associate General Counsel - Labor & Employment

Associate General Counsel - Labor & Employment The candidate will advise the business on a wide range of labor and employment matters, including but not limited to issues in connection with hiring, termination, severance, and discipline, wage and hour, union activities, collective bargaining agreements, OSHA, organizational changes, and employee benefits. Key Responsibilities: Provide accurate, reasoned and concise advice on short notice without undue reliance on outside counsel. Manage employment-related litigation, mediations and arbitrations in coordination with the AGC, Litigation and Contracts. Investigate and respond to employment-related state and federal administrative complaints in coordination with the AGC, Litigation and Contracts. Understand labor relations issues and developments internally and externally. Support positive employee relations consistent with Danone North America's philosophy of engagement with our union partners. Conduct negotiations of CBAs with Human Resources and plant leadership with the support of outside labor counsel. Manage union mediation and arbitrations. Conduct internal investigations; train Human Resources regarding best practices, process and documentation required when conducting investigations; and support Human Resources-led investigations. Coordinate investigations with Compliance Officer when appropriate. Conduct engaging internal trainings for employees and Human Resources. Understand government contractor requirements; oversee reporting and audit responses. Support Environmental, Health, & Safety team. Manage Workers Compensation and S&W issues with EHS team, insurance provider and outside counsel. Establish strong relationships within the HR community to proactively assess areas of potential policy/compliance risk and/or process improvement. Other: ERISA and employee benefits experience a plus. Contract drafting and negotiation experience preferred. The candidate should have JD degree from an accredited law school. Valid license in good standing to practice law; member of Colorado bar or eligible for admission to the Colorado Bar. Should have 10+ years of experience handling labor & employment as an attorney in private practice and/or with a large corporation. Prior in-house experience preferred.
