Senior Counsel - Employment Law The candidate will report to an firm Assistant General Counsel and contribute to our compliance posture by managing a diverse and challenging array of labor and employment matters. Will leverage prior experience to effectively partner with firms Human Resources (HR) team to create internal best practices on managing employee relations matters, oversee the work of outside counsel on employment-related litigation, advise on external agency cases as well as internal employee relations investigations, and assist the broader legal team and company as a generalist on other legal issues facing the company. Develop a deep understanding of our renewable energy business and industry and the associated developments and requirements impacting us and our employees. Understand and translate into plain English the legal ramifications of the full spectrum of legal issues facing the company.. Clearly and succinctly articulate those legal risks and, most importantly, present clear recommendations that ensure legal compliance and support our commercial goals. Establish processes and systems, including templates, to facilitate and automate repeatable processes that will enable our legal department to scale with the companys expected growth. Draft and review, in conjunction with the HR team, employment related agreements, including separation agreements and position statements, and work on a wide variety of HR projects. Provide advice to the HR team on employment matters, including, wage and hour compliance, disability accommodations, involuntary terminations, leaves of absence, internal investigations, and general risk assessments. Conduct or manage investigations and compliance audits; develop, implement, and oversee action plans to remedy any compliance deficiencies. Manage employment litigation and outside counsel to effectively resolve threatened or outstanding employment litigation matters and to establish best practices for prevention of future matters. Draft and deliver training programs to various internal groups and identify and communicate new legal requirements, including labor and employment law requirements. As an ambassador of the legal team, establish a rapport and working relationship with business partners across the company to encourage and continue the proactive use of the legal department. Evidence an interest and aptitude in becoming a corporate generalist .

The candidate must have Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school; must be licensed to practice law in one state. Must have 7+ years total relevant employment law experience in both law firm and in-house legal environments; experience working with mining or manufacturing companies is preferred Significant substantive expertise in federal and state employment law is essential. Experience providing advice responsively and effectively, with emphasis on Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, SCA, and employment-related torts and litigation is essential. Experience conducting investigations and responding to demand letters and government agencies, including OFCCP, the Wage and Hour Division, and the EEOC is essential. Experience establishing credibility and rapport with executive-level management is essential. Superior written and verbal communication skills (including presentations) and exceptional attention to detail is essential
