Corporate Counsel The candidate will provide advice and counsel to management and Human Resources in the United States, Canada and Latin America with the potential to perform additional international employment work as well. The job duties encompass a broad range of employment issues including: recruiting; hiring; employee relations; discipline and terminations; internal investigations; reductions in workforce; leaves of absence; discrimination and harassment issues; global mobility issues; contingent worker issues; employee privacy issues; compensation, benefits, and commissions issues; and support for global M&A and other strategic transactions and activities. The responsibilities will also include conducting employment law training programs for HR and management and formulating and revising company policies.
The candidate should have 6+ years experience. Should have the skills and ability to independently and proactively support an in-house practice of preventive employment counseling and to develop and train on best-practices guidelines and policies, while responding to and completing complex projects in a demanding environment. Should be licensed attorney in good standing in California. Should have knowledge of employment laws and regulations in the US with experience in practical applications and issues. International employment experience and prior in-house employment law experience a plus.
