Litigation Counsel The candidate will be responsible for managing the prosecution or defense of corporate litigation, with an emphasis on product liability, but also including, commercial, employment, and non-competition matters. Responsible for providing day to day legal advice concerning contractual and business matters, risk, and supporting the corporate insurance function. Help oversee and manage firm's litigation caseload. Specifically, work with in-house colleagues and outside counsel to administer firm's claims process, manage discovery obligations, develop and execute litigation strategies, manage outside counsel billing and retention issues, attend mediations as corporate representative, determine proper case disposition, and monitor litigation expenses. Field and answer questions from firm's business units concerning litigation risk, compliance implications, and other legal topics. Assist in the identification, selection, and management of outside counsel to assure legal services are rendered to the corporation that are results-oriented, timely, competent, and cost efficient.

The candidate must be extremely organized, detail-oriented, with a high degree of professionalism, diplomacy, discretion, and judgment. Should have demonstrated experience with and technical knowledge of e-discovery. Must have intimate familiarity with federal rules of civil procedure and corresponding state court rules. Complete comprehension of the civil litigation process from start to finish, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, experts, and trials is required. Should be highly motivated, self-starter willing to meet strict deadlines and time constraints. Must have demonstrated ability to operate independently and as part of a team. Should have demonstrated ability to develop close working relationships with internal clients in which corporate goals and priorities are maintained without compromising legal integrity. Juris Doctor degree (law degree) from an American Bar Association accredited Law School required, with graduation in the top one-third of the class preferred. Currently admitted in good standing to practice law in at least one state in the United States. Should have 2 years of top-tier law firm experience with an emphasis on litigation (at least some product liability litigation experience required).
