Senior Corporate Counsel, Employment Practice Claims The candidate will lead responsibility for customer employment practice liability (EPL) claims, including pre-litigation dispute resolution, management of active litigation, responsibility for discovery and other litigation requests and procedures, review of pleadings and other court documents, the receipt of subpoenas and other information requests and inquiries from third parties. Responsible for managing a team of lawyers and analysts engaged in risk management work, litigation and third party subpoena compliance, which will require among other things, coordinating activities, internally and externally, including advocacy and strategy for litigated and investigative matters and remediation efforts, discovery initiatives and related disclosures. Advise in-house attorneys and company management on strategy and resolution of EPL claims. Provides risk management and other general advice to the legal department, business partners and customers regarding EPL matters. Drives strategy, execution and management of outside counsel on EPL litigation and related matters. Collaborate with insurance carriers and outside counsel to efficiently manage all aspects of EPL matters, including: staffing, litigation strategy, budgets, work product, discovery and developing initiatives for reducing outside counsel spend. Coordinate with the CLO on periodic reporting on EPL litigation results, budgets, forecasts, exposure analysis and litigation strategies. Other special projects and responsibilities based on the skills and interests of the candidate and needs within the company. Should have J.D. degree from an accredited law school. Should have 7+ years of experience in an in-house legal department and/or a major carrier handling employment litigation. 3+ years managing attorneys and/or other professionals preferred. Demonstrated record for success strategizing, handling and managing employment practice liability claims to successful resolution is essential. Excellent sense of humor a must.
