Data Ethics (Privacy) Attorney The candidate will support data protection needs, specifically, help administering our Data Ethics Program for ongoing Data Protection law compliance. Will be the lead Data Ethics attorney in the US office and report to the SVP for Global Data Ethics. Also advise the business on a wide range of strategic initiatives, including, in collaboration with EU/APAC Data Ethics counsel, navigation of increasingly complex data protection laws as well as new market initiatives, requiring creative and proactive legal guidance and data protection accountability and ethical data use guidance and lawful basis development and positioning. Also help fulfill all obligations and requirements under US and EU data protection law (e.g., the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the upcoming ePrivacy Regulation), and interface with other data protection industry groups. Understands the big picture view of legal risk and data governance and protection and how it aligns with firm'ss overall business strategy. Be resident expert on compliance with GDPR, CCPA, ePrivacy regulation and local data protection laws, monitoring adherence to legal standards and acting as a point of contact with data subjects. Analyze and assist in developing policy positions on data and privacy protection legislation in the United States and in firm's international markets. Partner with the global Legal and Data Ethics teams, including close collaboration with EU/APAC Data Ethics leadership and outside counsel (where applicable). Conduct data privacy risk assessments of products and service offerings and cultivate privacy by design and alignment with applicable legal requirements and corporate data protection policies and standards. Conduct risk assessments and provide data protection advice on third party data processors and vendor transactions and new programs. Advise on the requirements and restrictions for international transfer of personal data and its contracting parties in the context of international data processing and information transfers, including the use of mechanisms such as BCRs and Privacy Shield. Advise on appropriate data protection terms for vendors, supplier, customer and employee agreements, as well as RFP's, bids, and strategic business partnerships. Support commercial attorneys handling customer negotiations relating to privacy questions. Develop and maintain data protection and legal policies and processes from the ground up, and provide consultation, training, and knowledge sharing with colleagues. Manage all record keeping related to data protection requirements and data subject request. Collaborate with and educate numerous internal functions, including sales, customer success, business development, security, product, and engineering on accelerating the sales cycle while promoting data ethics and data protection initiatives and risk mitigation. Advise business units on data ethics legal issues of first impression. Manage data incidents and data breaches in coordination with cross-functions and the Information Security team. Coordinate, participate in conduct and monitoring of data ethics audits. Monitor and self-study on case law, legislation and other legal guidance relevant to AdTech and MarTech industries. Develop and oversee delivery of privacy management communications and training to the business to raise employee awareness of data ethics and security issues. Advise on data subject access requests. Some limited travel may be required as part of the role. Contribute to building a great company.

The candidate should have US-qualified Bar certified attorney with excellent academic credentials. Must have 5+ years of law firm and/or in-house experience, including at least 3 years specializing in privacy and data protection matters. Must have strong working knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and global privacy laws and regulations, as well as relevant experience relating to GDPR compliance. Digital advertising or marketing experience is preferred. Certified Information Privacy Professional is preferred.
