Senior Corporate Counsel (Litigation, Risk & Safety) Duties: Responsible for, among other things, managing and providing legal advice regarding a wide range of claims, demands, investigations, litigation and other legal matters relating to the Companys business of delivering waste and recycling services. Provides legal and professional support related to the Companys nationwide operations on a full range of risk management, safety, security and insurance matters. Manages a diverse docket of bodily injury, property damage, negligence, nuisance, toxic tort, trespass, indemnity, insurance coverage, and related claims and litigation. Provides legal and professional support to the Companys Risk Management Department on a wide range of claims investigation and management, insurance, loss/exposure, policies and procedures, training and other matters. Works with third-party claims administrator and claims adjusters. Provides legal and professional support to the Companys Safety Department and area/field safety teams, including with respect to safety initiatives, investigations, policies and procedures, training, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) issues, and other matters. Provides legal and professional support to the Companys Corporate Security and Information Security teams on physical and cybersecurity matters. Drafts and otherwise contributes to reports to the Companys Chief Legal Officer, senior management, auditors, and Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. Prepares legal budgets and recommends reserves. Works with actuary relating to loss reserves and projections. Selects and manages outside counsel and internal staff. Provides training to management and corporate and field personnel. Assists with policies and procedures relating to incident investigation, claims reporting and handling, safety, Legal Department administration, and other matters. Analyzes case law and provides recommendations. Supports selection, preparation, disclosures, deposition, examination and defense of expert witnesses. Supports challenges to the qualifications/opinions of opposing experts through motion practice and at depositions, Daubert/Frye-type hearings and trial. Supports preparation of company and other witnesses for deposition and trial. Attends select depositions, hearings and trials of significance. Participates in mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. Advises on insurance coverage and bad faith law. Interprets and enforces defense, indemnity and hold harmless agreements. Overnight travel outside of Arizona. Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

Qualifications: JD Degree; licensed to practice law and in good standing (required). 6+ years of experience performing the types of legal work listed above under Responsibilities (required). Experience working in a large, multi-state corporate or legal environment. In-house counsel experience. Knowledge of federal, state and local statutes and regulations applicable to publicly-traded organizations. A proven track record demonstrating the ability to independently make decisions regarding complex legal and corporate issues. Outstanding written and oral communications. Outstanding organizational and time management skills. Strong collaboration skills. Excellent judgment. High integrity.
