Assistant General Counsel, Litigation - Discovery COE Lead The candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice, counsel and services in the areas of litigation and government investigations, including managing, resolving and defending disputes, and bringing affirmative actions. Will serve as the operational leader ofs newly created Discovery Center of Excellence. Advise on the design and provision of discovery protocols and policy to help ensure consistent and efficient processes that mitigate risk across litigation, compliance, and regulatory. Partner and work collaboratively with in-house and outside counsel on all aspects of the EDRM, including meet and confer and discovery motion strategy. Maximize and capture cost savings across EDRM. Track and report law firm and eDiscovery vendor metrics to drive quality and cost-effectiveness. Perform risk, efficiency, and cost assessments of eDiscovery processes, technologies, and providers in order to proactively manage risk points. Prepare discovery portions or FRCP Rule 26 initial disclosures and state counterparts; negotiate FRE 502 protective orders; and serve as or prepare corporate witnesses on discovery issues. Serve as liaison between IT and legal on discovery issues. Provide technical advice regarding the processing and production of data. Track developments and trends in discovery case law and technology. Provides leadership to managers and experienced professional staff may also manage front line supervisors. Manages an organizational budget. Develops and implements policies and procedures to achieve organizational goals. Assists in the development of functional strategy. Decisions have an extended impact on work processes, outcomes, and customers. Interacts with internal and/or external leaders, including senior management. Persuades others into agreement in sensitive situations while maintaining positive relationships.

The candidate must have Juris Doctorate degree with Bar admission and 10+ years of legal experience, with a focused emphasis in case work on discovery issues. Experience with U.S. and global privacy and data security laws, regulations, and standards, including HIPAA and GDPR is essential. Must have experience leading teams and implementing change. Superior organizational and problem-solving skills is essential. Must have project management experience specifically in the area of managing multiple ongoing projects at the same time. Strong understanding of legal technology, including technology assisted review is essential. Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including ability to translate legal requirements as well as technical aspects of processing, forensic collections, and form of production issues to lay person. Industry certifications related to eDiscovery a plus (CEDS, RCA, EnCE) is essential.
