Senior Counsel, Employment The candidate will provide day-to-day legal advice and counseling on a broad range of employment issues, including hiring, compensation and benefits, wage and hour, government audits, HR practices, performance management, terminations, and others as requested. Oversee employment litigation working closely with the Companys litigation group, including responding to subpoenas, handling EEOC charges and state-level equivalent charges, Department of Labor issues, government inquiries, and workers compensation claims. Conduct and/or support internal and external investigations of complaints concerning violation of Company policies, laws and regulations. Monitor and interpret changes to and trends in government and legislative matters at the federal, state, and local level related to employment law issues. Determine company impact and advise legal management accordingly. Recommend and implement specific company responses to changes in governmental and legislative policies. Conduct legal research and draft corresponding documents and memos. Provide legal interpretations of laws and regulations. Draft and review legal documents and review proposed transactions to ensure maximum benefit to the corporation and minimum risk. Draft internal policies and assist with monitoring policy compliance. Render assistance and counsel to other departments, as assigned, on the meaning and application of the companys policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable law and consistency with company philosophy and goals. Research and evaluate risks relative to operational policies and processes. Assist HR in periodic review of employment-related policies and procedures. Perform independent special projects of a legal and confidential nature for the department or company, as assigned.

The candidate must have a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school. Member of a state Bar in good standing and eligible to register as in-house counsel in state of residence is essential. Must have 7-10 years' experience and demonstrated competence as a practicing attorney in employment law. Experience working with Employee Relations and HR as a partner and resource is needed. Direct experience with employment-related laws concerning discrimination, harassment, compensation, benefits, accommodations/ leaves of absence, union/labor relations implications and workplace safety is essential.
