Associate General Counsel - Global Labor and Employment Law - Senior Vice President The candidate will oversee all labor and employment related matters for MCO. The incumbent will leverage their prior law firm and/or in-house experience to create internal best practices on managing employee relations, compensation, litigation and compliance matters, oversee the work of outside counsel on employment litigation cases, and advise on external agency matters and internal investigations. Responsibilities and essential job functions include, the following: Serving as key legal advisor on global employment law-related matters, including strategic HR initiatives, employee relations, benefits, compensation, recruiting, diversity & inclusion and labor-management relations. Updating corporate HR policies and related materials to remain current with state of the law. Drafting employment contracts and other employment-related documents. Developing and delivering relevant training, as appropriate. Representing the company before Federal and state agencies, including preparing position statements on employee relations inquiries and appearing at hearings on behalf of the Company. Managing federal and state litigation, administrative proceedings and arbitrations involving employment law matters, including management of outside counsel, risk assessment, oversight of case discovery and case resolution. Developing, implementing and managing employment law compliance initiatives in partnership with the Human Resources department and Chief Compliance Officer. Providing employment law expertise and support for M&A transactions and divestitures. Manage and supervise global team of lawyers who operate on a regional basis to provide the foregoing services to all lines of businesses within Corporation.

The candidate should have prior employment law experience, preferably in-house and law firm, required. A financial services background is likewise a plus. Position requires extensive advisory experience on employment law matters and investigations, as well as hands-on experience managing employment litigation and federal and state proceedings and audits. Proven ability to manage outside counsel on complex matters, including all forms of employment litigation such as class actions or multistate cases. The position requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as effective interpersonal and people management skills, excellent negotiation and drafting skills, and the ability to work well with senior and executive managers. A practical, business-based, and proactive approach to problem solving. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that facilitate prompt and constructive solutions as well as pragmatic thinking. Must be licensed to practice law in NY and have approximately 15+ years of related experience.
