Assistant General Counsel - Privacy Officer

Assistant General Counsel The candidate responsible for supporting and monitoring privacy compliance across the company. Monitors agents' and employees compliance with data privacy and safeguarding obligations. Oversees all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of, and adherence to the organization's policies and procedures covering the privacy of and access to, data in compliance with global, federal and state laws and firm's information privacy practices. Manages and leads the global privacy team and global privacy office. Monitors privacy compliance across the company and monitors agents' and employees compliance with their data privacy and safeguarding obligations. Analyzes, maintains and updates existing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current laws and regulations. Responsible for GDPR compliance. Responsible for tracking and compliance with all applicable global privacy laws and U.S. state regulations (e.g., CCPA). Manages execution of privacy audits in conjunction with internal audit function. Participates in the development, implementation and ongoing compliance monitoring of internal business clients and third-party agents to ensure privacy program and policy requirements are met and contract obligations are honored. Performs other duties as assigned. An Any combination of relevant education and experience and/or related professional designations/certifications in this field is highly desirable. Appropriate legal qualification and admission to practice law in relevant jurisdiction is required. CIPP (Certified Information Privacy Professional) certification, highly preferred. Must have 7-10 years in privacy, compliance or risk management in a corporate setting. 5+ years of management experience with responsibility for hiring, developing, leading, motivating, performance managing/coaching is required. Should have advanced understanding of global privacy trends, best practices and legal and regulatory requirements, including GDPR. Must have demonstrated ability to identify and analyze issues and think critically to resolve problems. Should have ability to form solid assumptions and formulate decisions and recommendations from diverse facts and information. Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently both individually and in a team environment is required.
