Senior Counsel - Litigation The candidate will be responsible primarily for successfully managing litigation by or against WestRock and its affiliated and subsidiary companies and providing advice and counsel to the business on a broad range of legal issues. Contribute to the development of legal strategies which align and achieve strategic business objectives. Effectively manage assigned litigation docket to generate successful outcomes. Provide sound advice and counsel to the business in a variety of legal topics based on section assignment. Identify legal risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect the companys interests. Research, analyze and assess strategic solutions to legal issues. Draft necessary legal documents. Develop processes and policies to address legal needs. Create and deliver engaging training on legal topics. Collaborate with internal counsel in drafting, investigating, researching, and advising with respect to contracts, disputes, compliance, products, laws, and regulations. Partner with the HR leadership to draft employment relations agreements such as employment contracts and severance agreements. Partner with the business to assess the potential legal implications of new large-scale initiatives. Communicate key information to necessary stakeholders to ensure parties are properly informed. Create and deliver engaging presentations to internal and external audiences; use practical language and effective communication strategies to deliver data, insights, and critical messages. Identify and remove barriers to agreements; employ multiple strategies/actions to persuade others; discuss/consider alternatives, bargain for win-win solutions; provides input into future negotiation processes or strategies. Must have Bachelor's degree. Should have Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university. Must have Bar admission in good standing in the US, preferably Virginia or Atlanta. Should have 7+ years of experience in a Law Firm Litigation Department, in-house Litigation Unit or equivalent. Must be skilled in litigation and discovery (i.e. document retrieval and production, interrogatory response preparation, depositions, and motion practice). Should have expertise in drafting policies, process, newsletters, updates, training, etc. Public speaking experience required. Must have Trial experience as first or second chair. Experience in a law firm and as in-house counsel preferred. International exposure desired.
