Attorney - Crime Victim Services/ Family Law The candidate will provide responsibilities include: Developing legal strategies and setting case priorities. Conducting intake and consultations. Training and ongoing professional development of staff on crime victim services and the myriad legal needs of crime victims. Carrying a caseload. Outreach to underserved communities. Coordinating schedules. Managing grants to ensure that program goals and data reporting requirements are met. Working with a variety of third-party stakeholders, including partner social service agencies.
The candidate must be admitted to practice law in New York and in good standing. Experience working with survivors of trauma, immigrants and/or underserved communities is required. Must have legal advocacy and representation in family court including orders of protection, child support petitions and legal advocacy in cases of ACS involvement. Must have legal advocacy and representation with campus adjudication processes. Must have legal advocacy and representation on housing, financial and credit issues. Must have excellent oral advocacy, litigation and writing skills. Must have ability to work independently and in a team. Must have ability to work collaboratively and across issue area with diverse communities and institutions. Fluency in another language commonly spoken in NYC is preferred.
