Corporate Attorney The candidate advises Company personnel on legal issues as assigned. Completes projects as assigned for the benefit of the Company in a timely and effective manner. Provides risk management assistance to current and prospective policyholders, agents, and others as directed. Analyzes and resolves legal matters and other tasks as assigned in a manner consistent with Company objectives. Effectively and efficiently undertakes routine to challenging document analysis and contract drafting. Undertakes routine to challenging regulatory research and compliance analysis. Undertakes routine to challenging legal risk management analysis and drafting, as well as other legal projects as assigned, for the benefit of external contacts, firm employees, managers, and department staff members. Undertakes routine to challenging insurance coverage analysis and insurance policy drafting. Contributes to the enhancement of Company and departmental processes and procedures. Promptly responds to Legal Assistance inquiries as assigned. Promptly responds to other agent and policyholder inquiries as assigned. Researches, analyzes, and applies policy language, statutes, common law, and other applicable legal concepts in order to effectively accomplish challenging legal projects. Advises Company personnel on challenging legal issues, and communicates legal information to external customers as assigned. Organizes, leads, participates in, and/or provides input at meetings involving collective decision-making, and contributing as requested to departmental or interdepartmental processes. Provides timely status reports concerning assigned legal projects to legal department management and to others as appropriate. Coordinates Company and department teams and projects as assigned. Complete other projects as assigned. The candidate should have a Bachelors degree and a JD degree. Must have successfully completed 4 parts of the CPCU designation is strongly desired. Should have 2+ years of experience as an attorney. Must have excellent analytical and legal drafting skills. Should possess knowledge relating to tort, contract, corporate, and insurance law. Must possess general knowledge of insurance company products and operations. Should have good interpersonal and negotiation skills. Must have the ability to handle confrontational situations in a productive manner. Must have good organizational skills. Other insurance-related course work and studies involving technical legal writing are desired. Prior experience in insurance law, risk management, contract drafting, corporate law, or other legal document preparation is desired.
