Corporate Counsel The candidate will assist senior management in developing and implementing legal and business strategies for the company. Will participate in the definition, development and ongoing monitoring of company policies, procedures and programs and provide continuing counsel and guidance on legal matters and legal implications. Ensure that the various functional divisions conduct business in compliance with all applicable laws and contract requirements. Provide general legal services, including negotiating, drafting and implementing contracts. Manage all regulatory monitoring and examinations in conjunction with mortgage counsel. Create, and update and audit compliance with all company-wide policies and procedures. Identify significant legal exposures and emerging compliance and business trends and issues. Serve as a partner with other members of senior management to create and execute strategic initiatives.

The candidate should have JD degree from an accredited law school; member in good standing of Virginia and/or North Carolina State Bar. Must have 10+ years of corporate legal or law firm experience with demonstrated skills in a mortgage lending/real estate environment and regulatory compliance in the area of consumer finance. Strong and dynamic leadership, organizational, administrative and project management skills needed. Must have strong listening and communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal) to effectively communicate with all levels within the company.
