Commercial Litigation Counsel

Commercial Litigation Counsel The candidate will be responsible for representing the organization in litigation matters for assigned business units. Collaborate with outside legal counsel on legal matters. Provide strategic legal advice and opinion to the organization and answer day-to-day questions from business personnel. Provide guidance and support for existing products, new product design, geographic expansion, etc. in an effort to assist in developing increased efficiency and profitability, taking into account all applicable laws, rules and regulations. Represent the organization in litigation matters for assigned businesses or bank functions. Draft and review business and legal documents to include regulatory disclosures, marketing material, licensing statutes and insure the bank and its subsidiaries are appropriately licensed. Lead in the development and interpretation of departmental policies. Research and review existing law and make recommendations regarding new procedures and policies. Provide strategic advice on legal aspects of acquisitions / divestitures using legal and business judgment and experience. Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies. Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the brand. Maintain internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable. Must have J.D. from an accredited law school. 4+ years previous experience as an attorney or other relevant experience is necessary. New York State or applicable state Bar admission is required.
