Director and Senior Corporate Counsel The candidate will draft and negotiate complex legal documents and correspondence requiring highly-developed legal skills and a broad knowledge of most functional areas of the company. Will perform legal reviews of product builds and provide guidance to clients on all legal implications of the data, product build and use cases considering applicable federal, state and local laws as well as any contractual requirements. Identify issues, investigate, research, interpret law, and draft memoranda providing guidance and recommendations for clients for complex legal issues requiring well-developed skills in various areas of expertise. Manage assigned projects to completion, including management of outside legal counsel. May direct the work of lower level attorneys and/or supervise the work of paralegals. Assist senior attorneys and management in higher level matters, as needed. Investigate and respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies, customers and clients. Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems within the business. Develop strategies to avoid litigation and reduce potential areas of risk. Perform all other duties as assigned.
The candidate should have a JD degree from an accredited law school. Must be licensed to practice law by a state in the United States. Should have 7+ years of relevant experience in a law firm or corporate legal department. Experience in handling regulatory matters, including GLB, DPPA, FCRA and HIPAA and practicing law in the insurance industry is a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills essential.
