Associate Counsel, Compliance Responsibilities: Develop a mastery of business processes and systems and provide counsel to stakeholders on technical compliance requirements related to the sale of automobiles, consumer protection and consumer lending services. Responsible for strategic direction, management and creation/revision of compliance documentation, delivery and maintenance of compliance training to stakeholders at all levels of the organization, policies, operating procedures, assessments, audits and remediation projects. Conduct comprehensive research, analysis and synthesizing that information into a clear interpretation of local, state and federal laws, regulations and business licensing requirements. Staying up to date on new and changing developments in applicable legal and regulatory requirements and leading the communication of relevant changes to the Compliance Team and stakeholders. Present guidance in a digestible format to all levels of business partners/stakeholders related to ongoing organizational compliance requirements and in response to specific inquiries posed by business partners. Lead implementation of new or revised compliance controls or procedures in response to compliance audit remediation recommendations or internal/external audit findings. Direct and manage documentation of key compliance decisions, remediation projects and new/revised legal and regulatory obligations. Identify process inefficiencies and lead implementation of solutions to eliminate or minimize identified inefficiencies and improve customer service to business partners, while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements. Manage and execute on projects and other deliverables as assigned by Legal or Compliance Team leadership. Establish and maintain excellent communication and positive relationships with business partners to ensure successful outcomes concerning compliance obligations and strategic business objectives. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: The candidate should have a JD and membership in good standing with a United States State Bar. 3+ years of relevant legal, regulatory or business experience, preferably in a highly regulated industry. Superior written and verbal communication skills. Consistent good judgment and ability to apply legal knowledge to help create practical business solutions. Enthusiasm and commitment to leadership within the Compliance Team and collaboration across stakeholder relationships. Experience influencing others to take action. Experience interacting with and working directly with/for internal/external business partners. Should preferably have Substantive experience with state/federal auto dealer, consumer protection and/or privacy/cybersecurity regulations and best practices. General Automotive and/or Financial Services industry experience. Experience leading people.Project management experience. Experience defining and implementing process improvements.
