Senior Corporate Counsel, Employment Duties: Review and advise with respect to interpretation, enforcement and claims made under employment agreements, restrictive covenants, equity awards, severance plans and applicable procedures. Assist with the periodic review and update of onboarding documents for new employees, including offer letters, employment agreements, confidentiality agreements, etc. Assist with the periodic review of employee benefit plan documents and other benefit contracts, as needed. Advise HR team on matters relating to new hires, transfers and terminations of employees and with respect to temp and contract labor, including background check process. Participate in the review and maintenance of the companys Employment Policies and other related documents to ensure regulatory compliance and best practices. Advise HR team and assist with compliance of new laws, relevant litigation case decisions pending legislation or other compliance matters as they arise. Assist with mergers & acquisitions, including transaction diligence, related agreements, and employee and benefits integration. Negotiate contracts with Human Resources vendors and suppliers. Aid in the oversight of the HR compliance program. Litigation support, including handling all labor and employment disputes that arise company-wide and in multiple jurisdictions, including EEOC complaints, wage and hour disputes, FMLA/ADA matters and wrongful termination. Consult with other members of the legal team on employment, labor and compliance matters as they arise. Manage OIG exclusion processes, procedures, contractual provisions. Manage matters related to offshore labor and visas. Manage outside counsel budget for HR matters.

Qualifications: JD Degree with strong academic credentials required. 6+ years of experience in employment law required. Strong transactional experience in drafting and reviewing commercial agreements and negotiating contracts required. Healthcare transactional and regulatory experience preferred. Active member of a state bar required. North Carolina bar member preferred. Demonstrated ability to work independently and accurately under tight deadlines with strong attention to detail. Strong organizational and time management skills, sound judgement, and the ability to work collaboratively with professionals having various backgrounds, including attorneys and representatives of large corporations. Must be goal-oriented with strong desire to meet and exceed expectations. Superior analytical and writing skills, coupled with good business and financial acumen. Extensive knowledge of commercial contract law and corporate law. Ability to respond to inquiries from federal and state regulatory agencies, customers, outside counsel and the business community. Ability to effectively present information to senior leadership teams, outside counsel and contracting staff individually and in group settings. Strong work ethic and sense of urgency. Ability to act quickly and hit the ground running. Self-assured and confident in a variety of settings with a strong belief in own capabilities.
