Associate Export Compliance Counsel

Associate Export Compliance Counsel The candidate will be focused on technical infrastructure activities (data centers). Perform regulatory analysis to help determine proper jurisdiction and appropriate classification of hardware and software. Develop and implement procedures to ensure compliance with export controls. Work closely with internal teams and lawyers providing counsel on deemed export issues. Analyze software and technology job functions and submit the appropriate deemed export license applications, export license applications, and classification requests. Analyze and develop compliance processes related to encryption items and applicable license exceptions.

The candidate should have JD or equivalent degree. Must have 3 years of attorney-level experience in export control laws and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Must be admitted to the Bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law. Preferred experience: Experience conducting technology reviews for export and deemed export issues. Experience with Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Experience with encryption regulations. Experience working in house and managing outside counsel.
