Corporate Counsel - Litigation Duties: Support Legal Department and manage outside counsel in the successful resolution of product liability, class action, warranty and other litigation. Responsible for coordinating discovery responses, preparing and identifying appropriate corporate witnesses, appearing in court, effectuating strategy, controlling outside counsel expenses and coordinating litigation strategy with other Legal Department colleagues. Support and enforce trademark and other proprietary rights of MBUSA/DBAG/MBAG via trademark enforcement program Ensure legal propriety of technical, advertising, promotional materials and other communications by reviewing same for accuracy and compliance with applicable laws. Ensure departments are properly informed of legal issues relating to their activities by consultation and communication and maintenance of sufficient familiarity of antitrust, employment, franchise, contract, construction, tort, lemon law, warranty, environmental, consumer protection and product liability laws. Support Legal Project House program to coordinate and resolve technical and engineering issues in coordination with Legal Department colleagues. Provide guidance to Customer Assistance Center, Engineering Department, Field Teams and other Departments for the resolution of customer claims. Develop proactive strategies to evaluate warranty claims and create processes for the cost-effective and strategic evaluation of warranty claims. Create measures to control cost, comply with annual operating budget and review and approve outside counsel costs. Supervise Paralegal(s) to support litigation-related work. Respond to subpoenas issued and handle the production of documents responsive to subpoenas. Achieve successful resolution of legal issues with respect to company s business activities. Coordinate all aspects of litigation with outside counsel and ensure effective implementation of strategy in all cases.

Qualifications: Law Degree from an accredited law school. Georgia bar licensed attorney in good standing. Must have 7-10 years of experience in at least one of the following practice areas: complex litigation, product liability, design defect, warranty, and consumer protection. Comprehensive knowledge of various areas of the law and application of day-to- day business activities; Ability to understand and communicate company policies to employees and third parties and to effectuate corporate litigation objectives; Superior oral and written communication skills; Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships; Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet time requirements; Strong understanding of litigation costs, budgeting process and expense controls to manage outside counsel and negotiate settlements where appropriate; Adaptability; Innovative thinking; Strong ability to problem solve.
