Senior Employment Counsel The candidate will provide counsel on high-level employee relations issues, such as hiring, progressive discipline and other disciplinary actions, including terminations, wage and hour compliance, leaves of absence, reasonable accommodations, employee benefits, non-compete, non-solicitation agreements, and other employment-related contracts. Prepare responses to state and federal administrative charges of discrimination, including conducting witness interviews, gathering documents and drafting position statements and responses to document requests. Oversee and coordinate internal investigations process and protocols, coordinating with Human Resources and other internal and external resources; provide legal guidance and training on internal investigations; assist generally with oversight and administration of our ethics and compliance program. Review and provide guidance on employment-related policies and procedures. Prepare and negotiate severance/separation agreements. Provide employment legal training to Human Resources and others. Respond to employment-related subpoenas and other requests for information from third-parties. Manage and oversee outside counsel in employment-related litigations, including managing outside counsel costs and fees and advising certain members of the companys leadership on strategy and mitigation of risks. Work collaboratively with other in-house counsel as needed on other matters, including non-employment matters. Must have 7+ years of legal experience in labor and employment law. Must have JD required. Knowledge of California employment laws is a plus. Member of the New York Bar preferred. Experience working in a corporate Legal department preferred. The ability to work as an impactful partner by giving practical, reasoned, and balanced legal advice are required. Sound and practical business judgment, intellectual creativity are required. Strong analytical, writing and strong communication/presentation skills, including drafting, negotiating, general counseling and influencing.
