Assistant General Counsel- Labor and Employment The candidate will provide legal counsel to the Company in the labor and employment specialty areas. For example: Manage employment-related litigation and labor-related arbitration with outside counsel. Conduct online and on-site training at various company locations. Provide counsel for various employment matters, including those relating to FMLA & ADA (and state equivalents), recruiting, hiring, employee relations, discipline, terminations, harassment, discrimination, wage and hour compliance, and strategies for managing employment risk. Provide counsel for various labor matters, including those relating to collective bargaining agreements, union organizing, and NLRA, NLRB and Davis-Bacon issues. Monitor and facilitate solutions for compliance with federal, state, local and international employment laws and regulations. Review and edit EEOC (and state equivalent) position statements as prepared by EEO managers. Draft employment law updates. Draft severance agreements. Design and/or draft employment-related policies. Review and edit employee handbooks. Support HR regarding employee investigations. Support identification and resolution of legal and business challenges and process and customer experience improvements in areas of responsibility. Represent Legal as proficient in areas of responsibility. Support Legal Departments strategic planning and deployment initiatives, procedures and policies (including annual improvement priorities (AIPs) and metric performance) in areas of responsibility. Support resource allocation and policy formation in areas of responsibility. Support Legal Department strategic planning goals and objectives. Support management of budgets, accruals, outside counsel, lean, high performance, customer experience and other key initiatives and goals in areas of responsibility and for the Legal Department as a whole. Collaborate with others, working as a team to accomplish goals. Otherwise perform legal work necessary to fulfill scope of responsibility.

The candidate must have Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Active license to practice law in one or more appropriate jurisdictions is required. Should have 7-10 years of relevant, progressive experience as a practicing lawyer. Must have ability to perform each essential function with skill, efficiency and practicality. Should have good interpersonal and communication skills at applicable levels of the organization; ability to facilitate, influence and negotiate with a global audience at all levels. Must have ability to operate independently with minimal supervision and address a variety of legal and business issues.
