Employment Counsel The candidate will report to the Assistant General Counsel, Employment and Labor. Will work closely with the other attorneys and project manager on the Employment Policies and Practices team, HR professionals and managers across all customer segments and functions, and external counsel. Counsel HR and managers on day to day employee relations issues, primarily for US workforce of approximately 16,000 employees. Counsel HR on leave administration and accommodation issues, as well as develop training, guidance and processes on same. Provide guidance on employee performance management, discipline and terminations, as needed. Advise HR and investigation teams conducting internal investigations. Review proposed reductions in force and reorganizations. Advise on compensation issues, including FLSA classifications and compensation plans. Policy review, counsel HR on background check escalations where applicants may have criminal history and there is a need to assess job requirements and applicable laws. Advise on vendor/client requirements impacting our employees. Advise on employee benefits issues. Advise on reasonable suspicion testing for suspected drug or alcohol use during work day. Advise on employee/independent contractor classification issues. Advise on restrictive covenant agreements and related litigation. Advise on pay equity laws and initiatives. Advise on employment law aspects of diversity and inclusion initiatives. Prepare and conduct HR and management training on various employment issues. Develop defense strategy and manage employment litigation and administrative charges, in consultation with local external counsel. Assist in responding to employment-related subpoenas, garnishments and related documents. Keep updated on legislative changes throughout the U.S. and advise on necessary policy or process changes. Prepare written responses to lawyers letters and negotiate with plaintiffs counsel, as applicable. Negotiate separation agreements. Advise Severance Plan Administrator with respect to claims filed pursuant to the U.S. Severance Plan. Provide advice and counsel to human resources professionals and security personnel in response to employee crisis/threat assessment situations.

The candidate should have a JD degree. Must have 3-4 years of employment law experience, with particular focus on advice and counsel (salary for role is commensurate with this experience level). Excellent written/verbal communication skills essential.
