Corporate Attorney The candidate will provide legal guidance, direction and support to stakeholders throughout Harley-Davidson Financial Services, Inc. ( HDFS ) and its affiliates. Will primarily support the consumer loan origination and consumer loan servicing operations of HDFS and will work closely not only with other members of the Legal/Compliance team but will have continuous interactions with personnel on the business side. Provide timely and actionable legal advice to business leaders, which will enable the business units to meet their objectives while maintaining full adherence with the law. Provides sophisticated, yet accessible and practical, legal advice to HDFS and its business units and subsidiaries, including Eaglemark Savings Bank. Collaborates closely with other members of the HDFS Legal/Compliance team, such as Senior Corporate Counsel, Director of Corporate Compliance, Regulatory Compliance Managers, and Paralegals. Maintains an expert-level understanding of applicable consumer finance laws, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Truth in Lending Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Fair Debt Collections Practices Act and the Uniform Commercial Code, as well as relevant internal policies and procedures; advises leadership and business units regarding compliance with laws. Reviews, drafts, negotiates, interprets and approves contracts and other documents, including credit applications, promissory notes, vendor contracts, marketing agreements, insurance product forms and licensing agreements. Prepares and delivers training regarding legal and regulatory requirements and emerging issues facing the company. Creates litigation strategies and manages outside or local counsel retained to represent HDFS. Takes a leadership role to actively support Department quality initiatives, seeks continuous improvement opportunities within the scope of responsibility, tracks legal trends and makes recommendations for continuous improvement for HDFS. Leads or participates in cross-functional initiatives and projects across HDFS. Will also have projects, as assigned, with colleagues from the parent company, Harley-Davidson, Inc. The candidate must have Bachelor's degree. Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school required. Must be Member in good standing with the State Bar of Illinois, or member in good standing in another jurisdiction and willing/able to complete the requirements for in-house admission in Illinois. Should have 3-6 years of consumer finance or banking law experience with a law firm or in-house corporate law department. Strong preference for candidates with expertise in the vehicle finance space or significant experience representing captive finance companies.
