Attorney/Counsel - Title Insurance Responsibilities: Respond to title objection letters and other requests to effectively issue pro forma policies and endorsements, finalize all title clearance, and mark up title commitments to authorize release of pro-formas to ensure a smooth closing. Prepare closing statements, handle escrow accounts and proceeds, and drive transactions to successful conclusion. Work with underwriting team to obtain all underwriter approvals and complete reinsurance questionnaires as required. Provide underwriting support on complex residential projects and/or individual closings as well as prepare state documents to assist clients with closings (simple deeds, land contracts, etc.). Resolve all title matters for local commercial and construction transactions, and coordinate and manage escrow closings for commercial real estate transactions while also being able to assist residential Escrow Closers with complex issues.
Qualifications: Law degree; licensed to practice law and in good standing. 5 - 7 years of real estate title review as well as underwriting experience with a major national title insurer. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to meet deadlines and maintain composure in stressful situations. Well-rounded knowledge of commercial title principles and practices including, knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, title insurance regulations, and agency rules affecting the title industry. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Strong business writing abilities. Ability to adapt to technology systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Must be able to competently and intelligently correspond with various client types including developers, lenders law firms, REITs, corporations, and high net worth individuals. Must be able to prioritize projects and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Proficiency with business technology (e.g. MS Office, SoftPro, etc.).
