Privacy and technology Analyst/Counsel The candidate will advocate on behalf of consumers for strong protections in areas such as privacy, dark patterns, algorithmic bias and discrimination, online fraud and deceptive advertising, and AI. Responsibilities: Should have strong consumer protections in areas such as privacy, dark patterns, algorithmic bias and discrimination, online frand and deceptive advertising, and artificial intelligence. Draft and research comments and testimony for legislative, agency, and corporate officials on bills, regulations or other matters. Draft letters, fact sheets, and other materials for the media, decision-makers, and activists to advance CR's advocacy goals. Assist other advocacy team members in developing strategy and communications plans to most effectively advance key priorities. Stay abreast of and monitor corporate, legislative, regulatory, and marketplace developments in assigned areas. Partner with other CR advocates working on related issues to help develop CR's policy objectives on cross-cutting issues, such a competition, platform accountability, and product safety. Work across to support other teams including content, mobilization, and testing. Coordinate with external partners and coalitions, as well as interdisciplinary internal teams across all CR functions. Represent CR in various private and public forums, including public speaking and media appearances on a diverse range of tech policy topics. Should have a Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in policy, government, law, computer science or related technology field preferred with a minimum of 2 years' experience. Thorough, understanding and experience with: Issues tied to technology, consumer protection, and/or the digital marketplace is a plus. Working and building relationships with individuals, groups, and organizations with shared interests. Should have strong research and writing skills. Must have speaking, writing and presenting information in a clear, concise and compelling manner that is tailored to a particular audience. Direct legislative (federal or state) or advocacy experience.
