Assistant Corporate Counsel - Employment Law The candidate will provide legal guidance and support on labor and employment law matters. Responsibilities: Provide timely and thorough legal guidance on a range of employment issues including: recruiting; hiring; employee relations; discipline and terminations; internal investigations; leaves of absence; wage and hour compliance; labor relations; EEO compliance; and contingent worker issues. Advise and update the business about changes in Federal, state and local laws and regulations (Title VII, FMLA, FLSA, ADEA, ADA, etc.), including updating policies and handbooks, as necessary. Draft separation and settlement agreements, offer letters & respond to demand letters, as assigned. Manage labor and employment charges of discrimination and litigation, including managing outside counsel spend. Train the business on existing and emerging global labor and employment laws. Oversee or conduct investigations related to alleged violations of company policies, laws, and regulations. Perform records research, and legal and factual research and prepare memorandums of findings, as necessary. Organize and track case files in Serengeti or other available legal database reporting system (including preparation of written reports such as claims and litigation holds and reports). Coordinate law office activities such as subpoena delivery and responses; work with internal partners as needed to ensure accurate processing of garnishments; unemployment compensation; etc. Secondary responsibility to assist with other legal functions as delegated by Vice President-Employment Law and Chief Inclusion & Diversity Officer. Act discreetly in handling sensitive and confidential matters. Qualifications: JD Degree. Membership in good standing with at least one State bar (admitted in Pennsylvania or eligible for In-house corporate counsel license). 4+ years experience; retail and international business experience preferred. Experience with a corporate law firm or in-house experience, or combination of both. High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
