Employment Attorney/Sr Employment The candidate will provide legal support for firm's Energy (BHE) management teams and human resources departments on all aspects of day-to-day employment-related matters, including hiring and termination issues, executive agreements, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, reasonable accommodations, leaves of absence, compensation, benefits, and employee investigations. Duties : Complete legal review for human resources vendor agreements. Provide accurate and timely legal assessments, interpretations, recommendations, and representation to management and human resources teams on a wide range of legal issues involving federal, state, county, and municipal statutes and regulations related to the organization's human capital. Support businesses in the review and response to employment claims, and inquiries from state and federal agencies on employee matters. Drafts, maintains and revises benefit vendor contracts, separation agreements and other employment-related agreements. Partner with human resources teams to establish corporate policies and legal controls that mitigate risk, and protect the company's interests and objectives. In conjunction with labor relations team, supports contract administration and negotiation of labor agreements to ensure alignment with company goals and objectives and assists with labor grievances, mediations and arbitrations. Assist in the selection and acts as a liaison to outside counsel on employment and benefits matters, including litigation. Proactively monitor ongoing legal issues and changes related to employment law and advises management and human resources departments on implications and courses of action for mitigating risks and promoting best practices.
The candidate must have Law degree from an accredited law school. Should have 6 years of legal experience is required. Experience in a regulated industry, regulatory agency or law firm setting is a plus. 3 to 5 years of employment law experience is required. Labor relations experience a plus. Must be licensed to practice law in a jurisdiction the company does business in or qualify for in-house counsel admission requirements. Demonstrate sound oral and written communication skills, sound judgment, and an ability to fulfill leadership responsibilities assigned; an ownership approach to projects and tasks is critical. Should have effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Must have ability to handle critical time constraints, priorities and meet established deadlines.
