Senior Counsel - Insurance The candidate will primarily provide legal advice to certain of firm's U.S. group benefits businesses (primarily life, disability, pet, health savings and spending accounts, and leave and absence management). Will also advise on U.S. privacy laws applicable in the financial services context. Will focus on legal questions and issues related to regulation of group and individual insurance products and non-insurance protection products and advise on legal issues relating to product development and design, marketing, sales, and administration. Key Responsibilities: Provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies in connection with the issuance and administration of group and individual insurance and other protection products across multiple jurisdictions in the U.S. Draft or review a variety of documents, including regulatory filings, policyholder notices, requests for proposals, customer communications and marketing materials. Draft and negotiate customer, third-party administrator, and vendor agreements. Conduct or coordinate legal research regarding U.S. group and individual insurance and non-insurance protection products. Advise on U.S. privacy laws and firm's privacy protection program. Assess and communicate legal and regulatory risks associated with U.S. insurance and counsel the business on ways to effectively mitigate such risks. Coordinate with the business, government relations, communications, and other cross-functional teams on multi-disciplinary issues. Communicates clearly, concisely and persuasively with a variety of internal stakeholders (corporate business partners, team members, functional colleagues, etc.), works collaboratively and builds effective partnerships.

The candidate must have Law degree (J.D. or equivalent) and bar admission required with a minimum of 7 years of relevant legal experience, preferably with a strong record of in-house success. Should have ability to handle complex legal matters with minimal oversight while escalating significant issues in a timely fashion. Prior experience advising financial services companies.
