Compliance Counsel - International Trade Compliance The candidate's duties include: Day to day operations of trade compliance program (focusing on sanctions and export controls), including policy and process enhancements, education and communication, monitoring and auditing screening activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and maintaining ECCN product classification; Develop and implement a trade compliance training plan, working in close coordination with other members of the Compliance team, to support awareness and drive compliance across ; Provide effective, practical, and timely Trade Compliance legal advice and guidance; Develop a deep understanding of's business and product roadmaps to meaningfully engage with the business, counsel on risk, and engage appropriately on projects that could implicate trade compliance concerns. Partner with relevant functions to and operationalize the policies and principles to ensure compliance with applicable law; Conduct periodic assessments of risk associated with trade compliance, including development and oversight of the implementation of any control enhancements or remediation; Conduct program focused due diligence for new business opportunities and acquisitions; Ensure the Compliance team and key stakeholders are advised on updates and associated risks arising from regulatory and trade-related developments.
Qualifications: Law degree (e.g. JD or equivalent) strongly preferred. 5+ years (though more is welcome) of experience is directly relevant to this Compliance role, (2+ years of in-house experience preferred, ideally with a technology company); Substantive expertise in global trade compliance, with strong knowledge of sanctions and export controls laws and regulations and elements of an effective trade compliance program and their applicability to a technology company, Experience in building, operationalizing, enhancing and scaling an effective trade compliance program; Demonstrated sound business and legal judgment, with a constructive approach to issue resolution; Entrepreneurial mindset: flexible, self-starting and hard-working, generating new and innovative solutions as we build out the Compliance program; Comfortable working in a company experiencing rapid growth and evolution and that is the subject of intense public scrutiny; Strong project management and organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously; Outstanding oral, written and presentation communication skills, fluency in English is required; Strong influencing skills as well as excellent collaboration skills to engage with high performance teams and colleagues in different functions and at different levels in the company.
