Senior Privacy Counsel Duties: Provide practical legal and strategic advice to multiple business groups. Develop a deep understanding of Cox's products and services. Identify risks and work cross-collaboratively with business and legal teams to propose and implement creative and practical solutions. Draft, revise, and maintain consumer-facing privacy information, including privacy policies, legal terms, and FAQs. Work collaboratively with the legal compliance team on privacy training. Support data governance efforts. Assist in implementing the California Privacy Rights Act and any other privacy laws and regulations in business operations. Provide privacy legal support for product development and management (Internet, video, voice, home security, and automation services), Public Affairs, marketing, and Privacy Operations. Engage with Cox's Information Security team as needed for security questions and incidents. Engage and manage external legal counsel as needed.
Qualifications: J.D. degree and membership in a state bar with good standing. Must have 5-7 years of experience as a practicing attorney with a law firm, corporation, or government entity, with 3-5 years of privacy counsel experience applying privacy laws to business or government. Experience with privacy issues in online advertising, apps, and AdTech. Strong writing and communication skills. Embrace diversity of people, thinking, and styles. Ability to work quickly to prioritize, manage and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of CCPA and its requirements. Knowledge of the CPNI rules. Knowledge of GDPR is a plus. CIPP/US certification.
