Compliance Counsel Responsibilities: Analyze purpose of applicable laws and regulations and assess the impact to MP's business. Provide recommendations and guidance as necessary to support implementation of change, as required, to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, including as related to securities, environmental, permitting and safety matters. Review case law and providing recommendations for change management. Keep abreast of all proposed and enacted rules and regulations impacting Company's operations. Provide legal counsel to, and support, Company's securities, regulatory, environmental and government-related filings and applications, including related examinations and inquiries. Ensure compliance with government contracts Liaise with government officials, agents or auditors when necessary. Foster ongoing communication amongst the team to ensure consistency across the organization. Research federal and state regulations, and consult with outside expert counsel, as needed, and provide recommendations and regulatory guidance for special projects and new initiatives. Guide the business departments on the development and maintenance of processes and procedures. Support corporate sustainability programs and initiatives Stay up to date with industry trends with ongoing training and development, continued legal training (focused on regulatory compliance), including industry conferences and legal webinars. Perform other related work as assigned, including special projects, and provide general support to the General Counsel and Company's management team. Qualifications: JD Degree from accredited law school. Admission to the California Bar and a current license in California. 7-10 years legal experience, ideally at a top law firm and/or in-house legal department or government agency. Highly detail oriented. Excellent decision making, problem solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and manage multi-dimensional projects in a fast-paced environment. Compliance and/or risk management experience in a regulated industry Ability to research and analyze complex legal sources. Knowledge of statutory construction and interpretation.
