Senior Counsel, Litigation

Senior Counsel, Litigation Duties: Managing litigation (e.g., product liability, consumer class actions, commercial litigation, etc.), including pre-litigation dispute resolution, discovery and other litigation requests and procedures, reviewing pleadings and other court documents, and providing advice and recommendations to the Vice President, Litigation & Regulatory and other team members. Drive strategy, execution and management of outside counsel on litigation and government investigation matters. Work cross-functionally with teams to mitigate litigation risk and to ensure compliance with litigation and regulatory obligations. You will support internal investigations with risk of litigation related exposure and will keep abreast of other legal and claims activities.

Qualifications: Juris doctor from a US law school and admission to at least one state bar in good standing. 5+ years of relevant legal experience in litigation, with 2+ years of law firm experience. Prior in-house experience a plus. Knowledge and experience with the following substantive areas of law preferred: product liability and class actions. Substantial pre-trial experience, including coordinating and responding to discovery requests, and managing e-discovery in complex matters required. Familiarity with home appliance or consumer electronics business a plus. Highly motivated, efficient, and organized; able to juggle multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment, both collaborating as a team and working independently. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively to solve complex legal challenges. Willingness to take a hands-on approach to understanding the facts, including attending scene inspections or lab exams. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate efficiently and to manage people effectively. Outstanding research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills; must be able to read, interpret, present and explain legal defense strategies and documents to executives and staff. Able to lead projects and initiatives with little supervision or direction. Able to collaborate with other legal and business colleagues in a complex, geographically dispersed organization.
