Litigation Counsel The candidate will assist the Chief Litigation Officer manage company's domestic, civil litigation docket, external and internal investigation, external inspections and examinations, and perform litigation management duties. Assist with pre-litigation dispute resolution. Devise and communicate litigation risks to internal stakeholders. Involve and seek assistance of outside counsel as necessary. Support Litigation Docket and Work with Outside Counsel. Facilitate discovery by substantively reviewing and coordinating internal discussions and collection of information and documents so that all cases move smoothly through the litigation process. Ensure confidentiality provisions and data security measures are in place to protect data. Review and provide substantive feedback on filings, briefs and other documents drafted and received in litigation. Engage and contribute to overall case strategy. Lead receiving, investigating and responding to third-party subpoenas from inception to finish. Ensure confidentiality provisions and data security measures are in place to protect data. Involve and seek assistance of outside counsel as necessary. Assist internal stakeholders developing responses to investigations, inspections and examinations conducted by regulators. Assist with disclosures to regulators and any follow up or remediation topics relating to regulatory disclosures. Assist with any corporate, internal Investigations conducted by internal or outside counsel. Develop familiarity and fluency with the Cboe Legal Division Internal Investigations Manual. Maintain internal calendars/deadlines. Serve as Legal contact to analyze data retention/destruction requests that involve litigation topics. Serve as main point of contact with outside vendors that archive and store company records, including emails, electronically stored information and hard copy files/documents. Participate and provide input regarding budgetary process. Update litigation reports for Boards of Directors, Board Committees, external auditors and senior management. J.D./Illinois law license required. Should have 2-4 years of prior litigation or investigation experience. Large law firm, government or SRO experience preferred. General commercial/business litigation experience preferred. Familiarity with securities, futures and/or derivatives laws and regulations a plus. Must have strong writing skills, including the ability to write in a clear and concise manner.
