Public Sector Compliance and Strategy Counsel The candidate will support the public sector portion of company's North America Sales organization. Will drive legal strategy, compliance, and contracting in support of company's large US public sector business. Drive decisions and strategy related to public sector compliance by proactively identifying issues, advising on and overseeing appropriate compliance regimes and policies. Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Finance and Government Affairs to drive overall legal strategy for company's US public sector business and provide frontline advice relating to US public sector compliance, strategy and contracting. Lead public contracting strategy on the US Technology Transactions Team, by establishing and driving consistent best practices in responses to public procurements, bid protests, and other common contracting issues in the public sector.
The candidate should have a J.D. degree with admission to at least one State Bar. Must have 5+ years of relevant experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department. Expertise in public sector/government compliance (e.g. False Claims Act, mandatory disclosures, pay-to-play statutes, etc.) is required. Government contracts risk management experience is needed. Experience in the technology industry is desired. Experience negotiating software, hardware and/or services contracts is preferred. Experience with state, local and education compliance and procurement an asset. Should have strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of successfully negotiating large, complex deals.
