Associate Export Compliance Counsel

Associate Export Compliance Counsel The candidate will develop legal analyses and compliance processes related to Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions impacting the Google business units that support, such as Ads. Perform regulatory analysis to determine proper jurisdiction and appropriate classification of physical goods, including encryption items. Classify software and technology relevant to the business units that support. Evaluate any related deemed export implications and implement any necessary compliance procedures. Coordinate with export compliance team members and business partners on the submission of deemed export license applications, export license applications, and classification requests, as appropriate. Analyze, draft, and advise on export control and sanctions provisions in contracts, terms of service, and NDAs. Develop training materials and other internal resources (FAQs) to facilitate compliance with sanctions and export controls. Should have JD or equivalent degree. Must have 3 years of attorney-level experience in sanctions regulations (OFAC) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Should be admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law. Should preferably have Experience conducting technology reviews for export and deemed export issues. Experience with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) is desired. Experience with encryption regulations is preferred.
