Lead Counsel, Privacy Commerce

Lead Counsel, Privacy Commerce The candidate will work on commerce platform products and initiatives in the United States and abroad to help businesses and users connect commerce with the community. The role will work closely with legal, product, engineering, policy, operations, and business teams, and will apply complex privacy legal frameworks to new and innovative products and services. Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in areas of data use and privacy laws globally and advise on the impact of the same on Company's business. Assist product lawyers in evaluating the impact of privacy laws, regulatory guidance and enforcement actions. Support members of the business and policy teams on privacy related e-commerce issues. Assist in the development and conduct of general and role-specific privacy trainings across Company. Should have J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar. Should have 5+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm and/or in-house experience. Should have experience specifically advising on privacy legal risks and mitigations, with working knowledge of relevant privacy laws such as CCPA, GDPR or LGPD. Business judgment and client counseling experience. Should preferably have working knowledge of e-commerce and/or digital payments legal issues. In-house experience with applicable litigation, regulatory, or product counseling, particularly at a technology company. Working knowledge of global privacy laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, especially those relevant for social media and Internet companies. Experience advancing projects in a multi-stakeholder environment. Experience explaining topics and gaining support and consensus from multiple stakeholders.
