Director, Data Privacy And Security Counsel

Director, Data Privacy and Security Counsel The candidate will be demonstrating a deep knowledge of data privacy and security laws and regulations including the CCPA, CPRA, GDPR, HIPAA, GLBA, and FTC Act. Drafting and implementing related data privacy and security policies and plans (i.e., privacy policy, data classification and handling, security incident response plan) and training of them to company's team members. Partnering with all key business areas to ensure data privacy and security issues are appropriately considered and managed. Working closely with the IT team to ensure that the appropriate technical and security measures are in place to prevent data loss and data breaches. Providing advice and counseling to senior leadership, including our CEO and CTO. Handling all aspects related to data privacy and protection including drafting contracts, assessing legal risk, advising on new projects, acquisitions and ventures, managing and assisting with litigation and regulatory matters, advising and managing audits, and overseeing security incidents and investigations. The candidate must have JD degree from an accredited school with exceptional academic credentials. Must have 10+ years of relevant experience in a top law firm or in-house counsel position with subject-matter expertise in data privacy and security compliance. Must have member in good standing with the Florida Bar or eligible to attain Florida house counsel exemption. IAPP CIPP certification a plus. Must have good business judgment and sound-decision making in balancing risk, opportunity, and business objective. Must have strong interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships with and influencing client groups.
