Corporate Counsel The candidate will support the business, reporting directly to the VP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary.?Will partner with the Marketing Team to influence consumer behavior in a cutting-edge and compliant way. Work with internal stakeholders to effectively design and manage contests, sweepstakes, special bonuses, and other initiatives designed to drive consumer behavior for the benefit of the restaurant and industry partners. Draft and negotiate client agreements for participating restaurants joining firm's merchant cash advance and marketing services programs, working with the company's national field sales team and internal operations departments. Work closely with the General Counsel and other executives and senior managers on designing and implementing regulatory compliance initiatives. Influence firm's general business operations by providing business counsel and legal review of commercial agreements (e.g., marketing vendors, recruiting and IT operations). Represent the Legal team on cross-functional initiatives such as product innovation and operational process improvements. Provide business counseling on financial services and privacy-related legal and regulatory matters. Deliver general legal counsel as needed on discrete issues (e.g., employment matters).
The candidate should have a JD degree. Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois, or the ability to be licensed as house-counsel in Illinois within six months of hire. Must have 3 years of experience as a practicing attorney, ideally with a combination of law firm and in-house counsel experience. Strong marketing and advertising background with experience editing copy and drafting contest rules essential. Experience in a sales-focused environment needed. Exposure to financial services regulatory matters is helpful, a willingness to learn is required.
