Junior Corporate Counsel The candidate will work with outside counsel, manage our process for obtaining and maintaining regulatory licenses in various states. Research and educate our teams on laws, regulations, and regulatory developments applicable to consumer lease-to-own and consumer lending industries. Assist with the formulation and drafting of legal inventories, policies, and procedures. Work closely with the audit and compliance teams to help them design effective tests and controls to ensure your processes are being implemented. Assist with the drafting and negotiation of the vendor, employment, merchant and related agreements. Remain up-to-date on relevant industry, consumer protection, and privacy laws and regulations to ensure an ongoing ability to provide sound compliance advice. Provide ideas and insights into how the company can work within the law to create amazing product experiences for its customers.
The candidate must have a JD and active membership in at least one State Bar with 1+ years of combined, relevant experience in law firms, governmental agencies, and/or in-house legal departments, preferably in high-growth environments. Excellent communication and drafting skills required. Fluency translating legal advice into actionable guidance for innovative product and business teams is required. The ability to organize, prioritize, and manage projects effectively is needed. Sound and practical business judgment, intellectual creativity, and problem-solving skills are needed. Be an enthusiastic generalist who can help with new and varied challenges as they arise, in teamwork with the rest of the legal group.
