Media Attorney The candidate will be working with a range of departments, including Production, Labor & Employment, Risk Management, and Litigation to implement production policies and procedures. Participating in and contributing to deal discussions, and researching business and legal issues. Counseling internal clients on a variety of legal matters, including guild/union and labor issues, IP rights, music issues, and providing risk assessment for production-related matters. Performing day-to-day legal and business affairs-related tasks as needed and assigned by senior legal executives. Negotiating and drafting an array of talent contracts, materials licensing, integrated marketing and vendor agreements and advising on broadcast standards and practices issues, copyright, privacy and defamation issues. Providing thoughtful legal advice to the producers, crew, and promotional creative teams on all potential legal risks and compliance issues in a variety of areas.
The candidate must have JD degree from an accredited law school and NY State Bar membership. Must have 3+ years law firm and production vetting experience. Must have knowledge of defamation, rights of privacy and publicity, fair use, and copyright and trademark law. Familiarity with product placement and integrations a plus.
