Lead Counsel, Commercial - Privacy Programs

Lead Counsel, Commercial - Privacy Programs The candidate will help the Privacy Program develop, implement and maintain its third-party programs, with a focus on privacy-related contract terms and on providing strategic advice from a Commercial Legal perspective. This may include drafting the terms, creating playbooks, rolling out training, and assisting with third-party pushback. Build relationships and collaborate with various teams (including Legal, Product, Partnerships, Sales, and Business Development) to further cross-functional alignment/coordination and successful implementation of the program. Provide guidance to the Commercial Legal team around general privacy compliance (e.g., FTC, GDPR, and CCPA) and best practices. Work extended hours when necessary to complete projects in a timely fashion. Potential travel as and when required.

The candidate should have a J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US State Bar. Must have 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney, including within a law firm and/or in-house experience in a technology company. Experience with drafting, negotiating and advising on commercial contracts (e.g., for platform deals, partnerships/business development deals, inbound/outbound deals, ad deals, and service provider deals) is required. Must have knowledge of privacy laws (the US and international) including GDPR and CCPA and the interaction between privacy laws and contracts. Experience with taking ownership of and solving novel problems, using excellent judgment, creativity, critical analysis, and taking into account legal risk and product/business needs is a plus. Project management skills with experience leading complex, strategic, fast-paced company-wide projects from start to finish are desired. Experience with projects requiring process creation, standardization, scaling, and efficiency is preferred. Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills and experience working effectively with cross-functional teams at all levels (including senior management) are a plus.
