Senior Corporate Counsel The candidate will contribute to the vision and mission of company through the provision of strategic legal and regulatory advice to business stakeholders and leadership on applicable law and regulatory compliance best practices. Serve as a subject matter expert on federal health care laws and regulations, regulatory and enforcement environment affecting the business, including federal and state anti-kickback laws, and the False Claims Act, interoperability, HIPAA and state privacy laws. Advise on the development of business arrangements to assure compliance with applicable law; assess impact and response to proposed new rules, regulations, and legislation to provide interpretive and practical advice regarding oversight and compliance requirements for business stakeholders across the organization. Lead efforts to further build and maintain the company's compliance program to ensure adherence to applicable federal and state laws and regulations, industry standards, and corporate policies. Work closely with business and compliance operations to design and implement measures to reduce corporate risk and improve overall compliance program effectiveness. Design and implement compliance programs related to new and emerging issues in a manner that reduces known and potential regulatory, legal and business risks. Engage with leadership in the development of a relevant, thorough, and geographically-minded compliance program. Independently investigate and act on compliance issues, including internal investigations and any resulting corrective actions and management of a high volume of internal compliance reports submitted to the compliance team and project managing complex cases and investigations to successful resolutions. Travel to different company locations (once business travel returns to normal status post-COVID 19) to administer compliance training, advise on compliance issues, or investigate issue reports on an as needed basis.
The candidate must have J.D. degree from a well-recognized law school and excellent academic credentials. Must have 5+ years of regulatory legal experience at a technology company operating in a heavily regulated space, a mid to large-sized law firm, and/or in government. Must have admitted to a U.S. state Bar in good standing. Must have demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically to achieve regulatory and compliance objectives with business support. Must have ability to quickly learn and excel in new or emerging areas of legal practice. Must have ability to work collaboratively with a cross-functional legal team and to adapt quickly to changing circumstances, subject matters, and team dynamics. Must have strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability and willingness to spend the time necessary to meet demanding deadlines and adjust to shifting priorities. Superior verbal and written communication skills are required. Federal and state compliance experience preferred. Strong technological skills and the ability to work and adapt to various systems; intermediate to advanced user of Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, etc.) preferred.
