Assistant General Counsel - Government Contracts The candidate will provide legal and risk analysis for various government and commercial transactions, including structuring, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements and working with the business to establish optimal contract terms. Collaborate with management on bid and proposal efforts, including review of documents and correspondence with government agencies. Identify and resolve contract issues as necessary and advise management of contractual rights and obligations. Assist in the establishment, implementation, and communication of formal policies, processes, and procedures with respect to government contracts, from pursuit to performance. Ensure that company practices comply with state, local, and federal laws and regulations and are consistent with company policies. Stay abreast of applicable legal developments, legislation, and regulations that impact activities, and perform research on legal matters related to government contracts. Prepare responses to government inquiries and investigations. Collaborate with internal legal experts to assist with training activities. Provide the business groups with outstanding internal customer service. Must have Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school. Should have Admitted to practice and in good standing with at least one U.S. State Bar. Must have 4+ years of post-admission legal experience in a law firm, government, and/or in-house counsel. Should have extensive knowledge of government contracts, including experience and familiarity with the state, local, and federal government contracting regulations and requirements (FAR, DFARS, Buy American Act and related regulations). Experience with state and local procurements is preferred. Experience with federal procurements is required. Experience with commercial item contracts and/or construction contracts is a plus.
