Senior Corporate Counsel Responsibilities: Oversees a team that provides legal, regulatory, or litigation support. Reviews various documents, materials, events and problems to identify potential legal issues and makes oral and written recommendations outlining solutions which minimize the legal exposure to the company. Prepares filings and reports to governmental agencies consistent with the level of experience. Summarize contract terms and support compliance matters. Reviews advertisements, press releases and other printed material to identify potential legal issues. Prepares and conducts prosecution and defense of administrative, legal or regulatory proceedings consistent with level of experience and under the direction and supervision of a more experienced attorney.
Requirements: Graduate of an accredited law school. 5 years previous legal experience required. Admitted and a member in good standing of at least one state Bar. Frequent interaction with members of the Legal Department as well as various divisions within the Company. Maintain good external relationships. Uphold departmental and corporate policies. Comply with all performance standards for this position. Frequent contact with regulatory authorities, and with internal business unit, regional and branch management personnel. Frequent contact with clients, including senior management. Decisions generally require consideration of business impact and weighing of alternative courses of action. Ability to research and interpret government (federal, state and local) regulations. Ability to recognize potential for legal problems and devise solutions. Very strong negotiation, analytical and interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of risk management, insurance and claims administration desirable. Ability to communicate with team members and manager. Ability to maintain acceptable standards of office and professional conduct. Ability to handle stress and manage stress in a time-sensitive environment.
