Associate General Counsel, Senior Director Of Privacy

Associate General Counsel, Senior Director of Privacy. The candidate will have responsibility for legal guidance on privacy and data protection issues and strategic oversight of the company's global privacy program. Collaborate with senior leaders to facilitate the company's business objectives while providing practical, timely, and effective legal counsel, minimizing potential legal risks related to privacy and data protection, including ongoing support and improvement of the company's privacy program, and training for business partners. Manage across multiple partners and projects, lead cross-functional teams and operationalize objectives while minimizing privacy-related risks. Report to the General Counsel/Chief Privacy Officer. Partner closely with the security, IT compliance, product, marketing, HR, sales, and other business teams on data protection-related matters, emphasizing the importance of privacy while delivering practical and business-minded legal advice. Oversight of privacy issues impacting operations, including monitoring of legislative developments. Develop and automate processes to scale efficiencies and privacy controls that arise from the operation of a large, complex, geographically dispersed, and technology-driven organization. Develop and iterate on privacy-related notices, policies, procedures, DPIAs, and DPAs. Advise and work with product lawyers in evaluating the applicability of privacy laws and regulatory guidance on product features and service offerings. Support, as needed, other attorneys negotiating privacy-related terms in commercial agreements with customers and vendors. Drive projects involving privacy analysis and compliance with partners across the business. Work collaboratively on and lead cross-functional projects related to data governance, data protection, and privacy by design. Coordinate large-scale projects from inception through completion. The candidate should have a J.D. degree from an accredited law school and 10+ years of substantive privacy legal experience, preferably both in-house and at a law firm. Experience with the U.S. and international privacy and data protection laws, regulations, and standards, including GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, preferably in the technology context. The ability to pragmatically weigh the risks and benefits of complex situations is needed. Must be able to quickly grasp technical issues and explain them in simple terms. Should be a problem-solver with the ability to find practical solutions and provide practical guidance, accountable and hands-on, self-starter, results-oriented, and desire to deeply understand products and business. Must be able to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
