Senior Staff Attorney, Insurance Defense The candidate will research and analyze complex legal and factual issues. Independently create and present defense strategies on behalf of clients. Prepare complex pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motions and briefs in support of defense strategies. Partner with our Claims Partners to achieve the best results for company and its insureds. Provide effective and timely reporting, communications, information, legal advice and other services to clients on legal and factual issues. Communicate with courts, witnesses, opposing counsel and co-counsel professionally. Facilitate prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned cases. Independently prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials, hearings, and arbitrations. Research, draft, file and argue substantive motions on behalf of clients.

The candidate must have 7 years of litigation experience handling insurance defense cases. Must have JD degree from accredited law school and license to practice in the State of Michigan. First-chair jury trial experience is strongly preferred. Strong legal research and MS Office proficiency (Word and Outlook) and Lexis Nexis experience a plus. Must have effective written and verbal communication skills. Must have excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
