Litigation Counsel The candidate will support firms Americas and assist firms Americas member firms, in any cross-border litigation, arbitration or regulatory investigations, including any disputes which may arise in Latin America or in the US. Will report to the Americas Senior Counsel and work regularly on investigations, litigation and regulatory matters involving Latin America. Lead the coordination of firms Americas and member firm internal investigations into allegations of violations of local law or firms policies and procedures, including management of external counsel and firms forensic teams. Assist in the development and implementation of litigation and investigations policies and procedures. Report to and consult with the Americas Senior Counsel on material issues arising in the areas mentioned above or in the region in general and take on additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
The candidate should have 6+ years of recent experience in a leading law firm and/or in the house working with clients and counsel in Latin American jurisdictions on complex civil litigations and regulatory investigations involving accounting firms, similar professional organizations or financial institutions (e.g., defense of professional malpractice and securities class action suits claims and responding to investigations by the SEC, PCAOB, Internal Revenue Service, Department of Justice, state Attorneys General, state boards of accountancy and other professional associations and law enforcement agencies from investigation through administrative hearing and appeals), as well as similar experience in Latin America. Must have J.D. or LL.M. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in the U.S. Must be skilled at working effectively in both the US and Latin legal environment and have experience bridging those environments; cross-border commercial contracting experience is a plus. Experience in a leading law firm and/or in-house working with clients and counsel in Latin American jurisdictions in commercial contracting a plus. Fluency in both English and Spanish; Portuguese language skills a plus.
